Wooden box with detailed carvings all around. Probably made in China, looking at the image on top of the box. The wood is the expensive sandelwood, which may suggest that this box was used to store important of valuable items. Inscription inside the box.

Very detailed woodcarving on this box, which was made as a container for embroidery/sowing material.
One can only wonder how it is possible for a woodcarver to remain calm and dedicated to accomplish such a difficult task to cut all these patterns with the same seize and form. Utter admiration!

Beautifully carved wooden box. These boxes are called 'bible'boxes, because they have the shape of a large book, for example a bible. The woodcarving was done on Java.
The key is still there and te box can be closed and locked.
