His carvings were variations of demons. With Ida Bagus Njana he is one of the most famous woodcarvers on Bali. Rudolf Bonnet acquired many of his carvings which he donated to the Volkenkundig museum in Leiden(Netherlands) (1886 - 1971) Djati DARLUN I Wayan Darlun His father, himself an accomplished woodcarver, gave him the first lessons. His father was the famous Ida Bagus Ngurah, who provided his children with a thorough cultural upbringing. Innovative artist who experienced with different styles and forms. (1912 - 1978) Mas GEREMBOEANG I Geremboeang According to Bonnet he is the most creative carver of a new group of carvers that tried new styles during the thirties in Batuan. He started as a maker of Topeng-masks and temple-statues. But later he developed his carving sklills and excelled in ordinary life subjects like mother and child, sitting old man, musician. Geremboeang-statues are very rare and costly. The TROPENMUSEUM in Amsterdam has a large collection of pre-war carvings of him. He was represented with 3 carvings. ( - ) Mas PATERE I Patere Talented and accomplished carver and painter. Only in his later years he started to make woodcarvings. He lived and worked in Batuan, at that time the centre of artists in Bali. Because he died young his sculptures and drawings are extremely rare. (1900 - 1935) Batuan PENDET I Wayan Pendet Well known carver and protege of Rudolf Bonnet. worked and lived in the small village of Nyuh Kuning, near Ubud. He specialised in animal carvings and had his own museum near his house. He got politically engaged which at the end cost him his life. (1917 - 1965) Mas RODJI Oleh Ketut Rodji Judging the quality of the carving on the photo, Rodji must have been an accomplished carver. His carvings were distributed and sold through the Pita Maha group. His carving of a sitting old man, now in the collection of the "VOLKENKUNDIG MUSEUM" in Leiden-Holland resembles that of the famous Geremboeang carving. ( - ) Batuan TAME I Tame Specialist in animal carvings. The carving on the picture was donated by Bonnet to the Volkenkunde Museum in leiden, Holland. ( - ) Njuhkuning TAMOE I Tamoe He was specialised in animal-carvings. ( - ) unknown TAMPEK M D Tampek   ( - ) unknown TELEGAN I Telegan Important woodcarver in the thirties. From Walter Spies he obtained a piece of wood which he made into a tall elongulated sculpture. He was the first to make these kind of elongulated figures. This influenced many artists on Bali. ( - ) unknown TILEM Ida Bagus Tilem Son of Ida Bagus Nyana. Educated and trained by his father. He never reached the brilliance of his father but was able to produce woodcarvings of a very high level. Later he began a gallery in mas called the 'Ide Bagus Nyana and son' gallery, which still exists today. He was important for the development of woodcarving on Bali in general. And a teacher to many young carvers. The Garuda on the photo by Tilem was sold for 20.000 guilders (9000E) during a Christies auction in Amsterdam in 1998.
