Charcoal-drawing of Ni Sadri, a Balinese Legong-dancer from 1938.
2011
Ni Sadri must have been a visual and spiritual enrichment for every tourist visiting Bali in the late 1930s. Between 1936 and 1942 she was a popular legongdancer together with her friend Ni Tjawan. Because of her exotic appearance she became a popular model for artists who worked on Bali at that time. Most famous are Willem hofker( dutch-painter) and Arthur Fleischmann-sculptor). Ton Boutellier(1958-Dutch) is working on a series of portraits which will be presented on ToboArtSales in the near future.
