TOBO-00265 Big and heavy log of wood with carvings of animals and floral motives. 1930-1940 A rare example of the art of woodcarving in Bali. Maybe the woodcarver thought that cutting this magnificent piece of (expensive) wood was a waste, so he created an unusual carving. This log is carved on every side except the bottom. So the observer may turn the artwork in any direction he or she likes. I have never seen a piece of balinese woodcarving like this. Brought to Holland by a Dutch surgeon before 1940.
